Most advice about SEO and AI search is opinion. This section is where I publish original research instead: data I’ve collected on how UK small businesses appear in Google and in AI tools such as ChatGPT, with the method written up in full so you can judge the findings for yourself.
Every study sets out when the data was collected, what was measured, how the sample was chosen and what it can’t tell you. Where it’s possible to share, the underlying data is available to download. How I approach research, sources and corrections is explained in the methodology and editorial policy.

UK small business visibility in AI search
How often UK small businesses are named when people ask AI assistants and Google’s AI features for recommendations, which sectors are most and least visible, and what the businesses that appear have in common. The study is in preparation, and the findings will be published here when data collection is complete.
